POSITION OVERVIEW:
New York Urban League (NYUL) seeks a dynamic, self-starter to assist with its communications efforts. This internship is an excellent opportunity to experience various aspects of nonprofit communications. The Communications Intern will assist the Director of Communications in implementing organizational communications and marketing strategies. The intern will work independently and, in a team, to fulfill organizational goals and initiatives related to programming and events. This internship is unpaid.KEY
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Monitor and report on NYUL’s social media presence, including scheduling content and reporting analytics and performance trends.
Assist with content calendar management, including scheduling and tracking content performance.
Assist with content creation, including drafting copy for social media, emails and newsletters, and scheduling content deployment.
Provide input for creative marketing strategies and social media campaigns.
Collaborate with staff on new ideas, directions, and tools for marketing and communications.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Understanding of the basic principles of communications, public relations, and/or marketing.
Basic to intermediate knowledge across digital and print communications channels.
Possess excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills, with high attention to detail and deadlines.
Must be computer literate in MS Office products, Canva, Meta Business Suite.
Ability to conduct research and data analysis to assist with NYUL’s growth and engagement on digital platforms.
Genuine enthusiasm for creating compelling marketing materials to support NYUL’s mission.
Ability to work well independently and within a team.
Junior or Senior in a Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or related undergraduate degree program.
Previous internship or related experience in communications is a plus.
Commitment to the organization’s mission and goal to continually improve service quality.
