Communications Intern

POSITION OVERVIEW:

New York Urban League (NYUL) seeks a dynamic, self-starter to assist with its communications efforts. This internship is an excellent opportunity to experience various aspects of nonprofit communications. The Communications Intern will assist the Director of Communications in implementing organizational communications and marketing strategies. The intern will work independently and, in a team, to fulfill organizational goals and initiatives related to programming and events. This internship is unpaid.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Monitor and report on NYUL’s social media presence, including scheduling content and reporting analytics and performance trends.

  • Assist with content calendar management, including scheduling and tracking content performance.

  • Assist with content creation, including drafting copy for social media, emails and newsletters, and scheduling content deployment.

  • Provide input for creative marketing strategies and social media campaigns.

  • Collaborate with staff on new ideas, directions, and tools for marketing and communications.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Understanding of the basic principles of communications, public relations, and/or marketing.

  • Basic to intermediate knowledge across digital and print communications channels.

  • Possess excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills, with high attention to detail and deadlines.

  • Must be computer literate in MS Office products, Canva, Meta Business Suite.

  • Ability to conduct research and data analysis to assist with NYUL’s growth and engagement on digital platforms.

  • Genuine enthusiasm for creating compelling marketing materials to support NYUL’s mission.

  • Ability to work well independently and within a team.

  • Junior or Senior in a Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or related undergraduate degree program.

  • Previous internship or related experience in communications is a plus.

  • Commitment to the organization’s mission and goal to continually improve service quality.


Start Date: Spring 2024 semester

Hours: Approximately 10 - 15 hours/week

Operations Intern

Reports To: Director of Operations
Department: Operations/Administration

POSITION OVERVIEW:

New York Urban League (NYUL) internship program is designed to provide individual with an opportunity to learn as much as possible in a limited time span about our non-profit operations production (Interns will be assigned to work with our salesforce force team). The operations function will provide support with HR, Salesforce, Customer service, Development Tracking, and Technology. This includes Managing inventory, planning schedules. The interns may also be assigned one or more projects involving various subjects matters.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Monitor inventory, ordering materials to support the operations functions.

  • Assist with Developing a logistic flow of materials that’s supports the operational needs.

  • Playing a liaison between operations and development SalesForce planning.

  • Track key indicators of performance in meetings customers’ requirements.

  • Providing primary customer service support to customer service facilities and customers.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Understanding of the basic principles of operations.

  • Basic to intermediate knowledge of Microsoft office, Google drive, including Excel, Canva, Meta Business Suite, Salesforce (training can be provided).

  • Possess excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills, with high attention to detail and deadlines.

  • Ability to conduct research and data analysis to assist with NYUL’s growth and development.

  • Ability to work well independently and within a team.

  • Commitment to the continuous improvement of service quality and the organization’s mission
