The Whitney M. Young, Jr. Scholarship
The New York Urban League is proud to announce the release of the application for the 2022 Whitney M. Young, Jr. Scholarship. One time scholarships ranging from $1,500 to $5,000 will be awarded to college bound students starting college in Fall 2022.
Scholarship Application Eligibility Requirements:
New York City Residents - Applicants must live within the 5 Boroughs of NYC;
Racial/Ethnic Minority Heritage - Applicants must identify as having at minimum 50% African American/Black, Hispanic/Latinx, and/or Native American/Indigenous Heritage;
Of excellent character and proven leadership ability, with a demonstrated commitment to community service and extra-curricular activities;
Classification - ONLY Graduating Seniors, Recent High School Graduates / High School Equivalency Diploma Recipients will be considered;
Accepted as a full time and first-term matriculating freshman at an accredited college or university in pursuit of a Baccalaureate or Associate degree for Fall 2022;
Applicants that have previously enrolled and/or taken classes, even if not completed, at any institution of Higher Education are ineligible for this scholarship award - this does not apply to Dual Enrollment Credits reflected on High School Transcripts.
