Program Assistant
REPORTS TO: Chief Program Officer
DEPARTMENT: Programs (Education, Employment & Advocacy)
TYPE: Full Time (35 hours per week)
STATUS: $44K - $47K Annual (Non-Exempt)
POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Program Assistant will report to the Chief Program Officer overseeing the Employment, Education and Advocacy efforts for the New York Urban League. The Program Assistant will provide overall administrative support to promote effective and efficient implementation of programs and services.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Analyze internal operations and identify areas for process enhancement
Implement business strategies that align with the short- and long-term objectives developed the Board of Directors
Coordinate HR functions including recruitment, orientation, on-boarding, performance review process, benefits enrollment, and more
Manage operational logistics related to events, parties, meetings,
Support CEO in monitoring performance against annual budget, make quarterly business strategy adjustments and corrective actions needed to maximize impact while minimizing expenditure
Build and maintain trusting relationships with partners, clients, and stakeholders
Review all contracts and approve process in enhancement updates
Supervise and support NYUL consultants and partners in areas of Technology and HR
Support CEO’s advocacy and promotion work by providing timely updates on programming activities
Oversight of office facilities management
Ensure compliance with National Urban League affiliate requirements
Represent NYUL at community events, meetings, conferences, etc
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to speak clearly.
Ability to use a computer for prolonged periods.
Ability to climb five flights of stairs.
Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
Ability to manipulate objects with fingers rather than with whole hand or arm, for example, using a keyboard or phone.
Ability to work outdoors and travel for a minimum of 1 mile within a reasonable amount of time in all types of weather, including inclement weather.
Currently this is a hybrid full-time position (3 days in person/2 days remote) with the goal to be 100% in person by mid-2023.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum of 10 years of management experience, 3-5 years in nonprofit setting
Experience managing organization with annual budget of at least $1 million
Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field
Superior communication skills, both oral and written
Demonstrated leadership skills with staff and professional colleagues
Demonstrated experience working on teams, both as a member and as a leader
Creative problem solver
Excellent time management and multi-tasking skills to meet deadlines
Proactive and highly organized
Excel, PowerPoint and Microsoft Office proficiency
