The NYULYP is run by an 9-person board consisting of 4 Executive Board members and 5 Committee Chairpersons . The Executive Board is responsible for overseeing the programs and activities of the NYULYP and leading our members towards achieving goals that support our mission.

Nicole Clare, Community Service Chair |
Nicole M. Clare is a proud native of the Bronx, New York. She received her Bachelor’s degree from Brown University and a Master of City Planning degree from the University of Pennsylvania. Nicole previously held positions in the New York City office of Economics Research Associates; Enterprise Heights Real Estate Development Corporation in West Philadelphia; Mt. Airy USA Community Development Corporation in northwest Philadelphia; and the City of New York / Parks & Recreation. Nicole has been involved in community service and non-profit work for nearly fourteen years with various organizations, including the Pre-College Enrichment Program in Providence, Rhode Island, the Art Start Arts in the Shelters program and the Center for Urban Pedagogy in New York. She is also a former instructor with the Exploration Summer Program at Wellesley College. She completed the United Way of New York City’s Linkages Board Training program at the end of 2007 and was subsequently placed as a Board Member for the Highbridge Community Life Center in the Bronx, where she serves on the Facilities and Real Estate, Membership and Fundraising Committees. In May 2009, she completed Coro Leadership New York, a civic leadership program for mid-career professionals. |

Carmen Mayes, Fund Development Chair |
Carmen Mayes was born and raised in Detroit Michigan. Carmen graduated from Cass Technical High School, a college preparatory high school, where her focus was Business Administration. After high school, Carmen earned her BBA in Marketing from Eastern Michigan University. In her senior year, she was earned an internship at Park-Davis Pharmaceuticals (currently Pfizer) working in the Research and Development group for the heart medication, Lipitor. Working in a demanding, highly organized and quality driven atmosphere helped her to develop skills for planning, organization and attention to detail. This environment also sparked an interest in research and after graduating college Carmen spent 4 years in Market Research, advancing from a Research Analyst to a Sr. Project Manager. More than anything, the experience in Market Research taught Carmen the connection between knowing your customer and having a successful business. Being able to tap into your customers needs and understanding how to implement change to improve is invaluable and beneficial to any situation where you deal with clients (internal and external) and the public. In 2006, Carmen moved to the New York area after accepting a job with ARAMARK, as a Marketing Manager for the dining services at New York University. |

Sabrina Gates, Membership Chair | Sabrina Gates is the founder and director of Urban Bridges, Inc. a nonprofit organization focused on leadership development in communities of color. She has worked in both the for profit and nonprofit arenas. Sabrina is an active volunteer in several organizations including New York Cares, New York Road Runners and the Jr. Committee of the Inner City Scholarship Fund among others. She is also a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., a member of the Board of the Georgetown Club of New York, a charter member of the New Kings Democrats, and a representative on the Kings County Democratic Committee. She currently resides in Brooklyn, NY. |

Daniella Johnson, Communications Chair |
Daniella Johnson is the Marketing Coordinator at Fortune, Time, Money and Fortune Small Business Magazines with a focus on research, sales development and brand marketing. Her strong marketing background comes from working in sales and marketing at Smithsonian Publishing in 2007 and various internships at Time Inc. including Entertainment Weekly and Teen People Magazines. A graduate of Wesleyan University with a B.A. in sociology, Daniella also brings to the table her passion for civil rights and politics.
Since joining in March 2007, Daniella has been a dedicated member of the New York Urban League Young Professionals serving on both Communications and Membership Committees. She played a key role in launching NYULYP's Facebook group and fan page, which significantly increased awareness and publicity for the organization. In addition to Facebook, she manages NYULYP's Myspace page and works diligently to advertise events through blogs and other media outlets. Daniella is also a contributing writer for The Griot, the NYULYP newsletter, with a regular Member Spotlight column. |

Lisa Leid, Civics & Economics Chair |
Lisa Leid is an Account Manager at Interactive One (A Division of Radio One) In this position she manage relationships with strategic clients. Reviews account activity and identifies opportunities to improve economics and value to the company.Manage overall client satisfaction and coordinates efforts with internal teams (Traffic, Production, Engineering, Marketing, and Finance) to develop strategies around campaign optimization and improved performance. Works with Traffic to ensure campaigns are launched successfully, delivered efficiently, and up-to-date performance/results are communicated to clients. Effectively translates delivery information to both technical and non-technical teams. Initiates, analyzes, and acts upon stats obtained from internal and 3rd Party systems; interpret key sites data such as member behavior, ad inventory availability, traffic patterns, and other data as required. Completes post sale campaign performance summaries and presents results to customers. Lisa has been in the interactive/internet space for over five years. She attended SUNY F.I.T where she studied Marketing and Advertising. Born and raised in Brooklyn. She is a member of the Brooklyn NAACP, where she serves as co-chair of Economic Empowerment committee. A member of Step-up where she volunteer for the Health & Wellness committee as well as the Professional Development committee. |
