Why: The State of Black New York is geared to promote an awareness of the issues that surrounds the Black community. It aims to utilize research-based status, disparities, challenges and recommendations facing Black New Yorkers. This event will focus on Education.

As part of the strategy to renew the advocacy work of the New York Urban League, it has been decided to publish the State of Black New York City - released on November 29th, 2007.

The Launch event for the State of Black New York City is to highlight significant findings and recommendations concerning New York City ’s Black Community and other Minorities. The partners are the New Urban League, which has historically published the document, and Black Equity Alliance, who is both an editorial and funding partner in the publication.

The State of Black New York City looks at research based status, disparities, challenges and recommendations facing Black New Yorkers: Health, Education, Housing, Employment, Economic Development, Faith, Child Wellbeing, Black Business Ownership, Criminal Justice, Black Presence on Corporate and Influential Boards, as a well as the impact of Advertising at the Black Community at large.
