The New York Urban League gets an MTV Style Makeover!
The New York Urban League has been serving the people of New York from 204 West 136th Street for 90 years. The problem is this building, which has been a refuge for thousands of New Yorkers facing difficult and challenging junctures in their lives, has not received much renovation in the past. However, with the help of MTV Networks and Yetta Banks, Vice President of Design and Construction for MTV Networks/Viacom, the building will again be a source of pride for the League and the
neighborhood. The New York Urban League entrance way and reception area accurately reflects the great work at the League. For a week, MTV Networks has donated their time and resources to renovation of the NYUL lobbying including all new flooring, lighting, custom paint, furniture, flat screen TV, and more. The New York Urban League is ecstatic that the great work we are able to do for the community can now be reflected in our building. All can enter this building and gain a sense of hope, as we together with the community look to forge our way into the future.
As we celebrate our 90th Anniversary, we pay tribute to our past while continuously working towards strengthening our programs and service delivery. The renovation of our lobby is one of the many changes to come. We’re not finished yet…
