The Whitney M. Young, Jr. Memorial Scholarship


NOTE: Applications will not be accepted until the completion of the Fall 2011 semester.  The first semester transcript must be included with your submission.

 

WHITNEY M. YOUNG, JR. SCHOLARSHIP is named after Whitney M. Young, Jr. who was the Executive Director of the National Urban League from 1961–1971. Young focused on gaining equality for blacks in business, politics, and improving opportunities for the urban poor. The scholarship of $3,500 memorializes Young’s commitment to educational equity young people.

 

THE ANN S. KHEEL SCHOLARSHIP - The late Ann S. Kheel was a former NYUL Board Member who dedicated years of service to underserved New Yorkers.  Mrs. Kheel was also the founder of the League’s Frederick Douglass Awards Dinner.  The Ann S. Kheel Scholarship is an award for $5,000.

THE YOUNG PROFESSIONALS EMERGING LEADER SCHOLAR - Members of the New York Urban League Young Professionals (NYUL YP) created this scholarship to empower outstanding students.  The NYUL YP is an affiliate of the New York Urban League, designed to serve as an empowerment forum for individuals ages 21 to 40.  Awards are for $1,500.
