Be part of compancy undergoing a dramatic transformation to capitalize on its extensive assets and reputation in a rapidly changing and highly competitive media and information marketplace. In an economic environment of increased pressure on charitable giving, this non-profit is called upon to deliver even more valuable programming to its diverse and highly engaged community of audiences.
Responsibilities:
Develop an institutional communications strategy to strengthen and distinguish the brands of the company.
Stategize and advise on crisis communications issues
Develop and communicate the company’s editorial voice in a way that engages and inspires all areas of the organization, its volunteer board, funders, and external stakeholders.
Create campaigns that build viewership, reinforce the brand, and advance the reputation of the company as an expert resource and thought leader in news and public affairs, science, arts and culture, and children’s educational programming.
Engage and partnering with on-air talent, production staff, and related external advisors and executives to develop creative, high-impact strategies that promote programming content and build audience.
Partner with colleagues within the Development team to create campaigns that support fundraising and foster the engagement and involvement of the company’s funders.
Support and develop campaigns to build membership and other revenue-generating activities.
Job Requirements:
10+ years of relevant experience in communications and/or marketing, preferably within a world-class media organization.
Success at develop a relationship of trust and confidence with a chief executive and leadership team. Proven ability to provide effective advice, counsel and coaching.
Hands-on experience with crisis management.
History of creative strategic thinking, entrepreneurial spirit, and innovative leadership in developing communications and marketing programs that engage a variety of diverse stakeholders.
Bachelor degree required, with a preference for journalism, communications, marketing, or relevant discipline. Advanced degree a plus.
Excellent interpersonal communications and management skills; and excellent writing skills.
