Job Title: Community Outreach Worker / Organizer

Responsibilities:

The objective of the position is to:
Promote and support the opening of a new school in the community
Work collaboratively with our CBO
Design Website and post information seminars and admissions paperwork
Engage students, families and households in order to communicate the vision and mission of New NYC Transfer High Schools
Serve as the Administrative support for both the Student Outreach and Recruitment, Hiring process for teachers and other staff as well as over all development of the school.
In conjunction with the School Leader and all those supporting the development of the new school, the Community Outreach Worker will have the following prioritized tasks:
Support the opening of the new school by coordinating the student and family outreach effort;
Support the opening of the new school by coordinating the hiring process of teachers and other staff;
Conduct other tasks related to both Student Outreach and Recruitment, Hiring of Teachers and other staff as well as the start up of the new school and preparing for first day of school

Requirements:

Previous experience doing similar work.
Knowledge and familiarity of the school’s neighboring communities.
Ability to plan and manage own work and project work.
Ability to communicate very well with diverse audience.
Ability to travel throughout the school community and surrounding communities during the hours of 7 am to 9 pm.
Minimum Qualifications:
Strong verbal and interpersonal skills required.  Prior experience and or interest in the field of education preferred. Previous experience working with high school students highly desired

Salary:  $15 to $17 an hour
