Job Title: Major Gifts Officer 

Description:

Multi-site, multi-program community organization that works to enhance the quality of life for children and families in some of New York City's most devastated neighborhoods is seeking an experienced and committed Major Gifts Officer who will help secure $10,000 plus gifts from individuals, corporations and foundations for a variety of initiatives, as well as cultivate and steward current donors..

Responsibilities:

Manage a portfolio of prospects with a focus on securing gifts and pledges of $10,000 or more.
Conduct prospect calls to qualify potential donors to determine capacity and inclination to give.
Secure meetings with potential donors to update them
Engage donors and prospects at events and other venues as part of the cultivation process.
Develop cultivation and solicitation strategies for major gift prospects by assessing philanthropic intent, interest in supporting organization.
Write compelling proposals and reports to secure new commitments and upgrade existing donor commitments.
Proactively research and pursue new major gift prospects.
Coordinate and oversee cultivation events.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree and 2-3 years fundraising experience required.
Proven track record in prospect management and major gifts solicitation.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Outlook.
Experience working with donor database software.
Time management skills and the ability to work under deadlines.
Excellent oral, written communication and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects with a strong attention to detail.
