The New York Urban League, Inc. (the "League") is one of the local affiliates of the National Urban League, a nonprofit, nonpartisan, multi-ethnic, social service organization celebrating its 85th anniversary in 2004. Through direct service delivery, advocacy, referrals, community capacity building, information dissemination and technical assistance, the League accomplishes its mission to improve social and economic conditions and opportunities for African-Americans and other people who face barriers to full participation in American society.
The Champions of Diversity Awards Breakfast salutes companies that understand the need for diversity in the job market. They embrace diversity to its fullest potential and truly understand to succeed in today’s competitive market; diversity must be reflected in every aspect of the workplace.
The New York Urban League entrance way and reception area accurately reflects the great work at the League. For a week, MTV Networks has donated their time and resources to renovation of the NYUL lobbying including all new flooring, lighting, custom paint, furniture, flat screen TV, and more. The renovation of our lobby is one of the many changes to come. We’re not finished yet…
We are pleased to announce that the New York Urban League (NYUL) is partnering with the U.S. Census Bureau to help achieve a complete and accurate count of our population as part of the 2010 Census. The census gives us a voice and power to influence change and help to ensure the needs of the Black community are met – today and in the future.
