The New York Urban League, Inc. (the "League") is one of the local affiliates of the National Urban League, a nonprofit, nonpartisan, multi-ethnic, social service organization celebrating its 85th anniversary in 2004. Through direct service delivery, advocacy, referrals, community capacity building, information dissemination and technical assistance, the League accomplishes its mission to improve social and economic conditions and opportunities for African-Americans and other people who face barriers to full participation in American society.

2008 National Day of ServiceThe New York Urban League Young Professionals (NYULYP) will host their annual National Day of Service (NDOS) on Saturday May 10, 2008 from 12pm – 4pm at the Harlem Children’s Zone located at 35 East 125th Street, New York, NY. This one day workshop entitled “It’s Payback Time” will be held for teens ages 13-18 with the purpose of educating them in the areas of credit basics, including strategies on budgeting and saving.

New York Urban League Annual Frederick Douglas Awards Dinner - May 13th, 2008Inspired by the life and deeds of Frederick Douglass who was born a slave and escaped to freedom to become a fiery abolitionist and today is regarded as the "Father of the Civil Rights Movement," the Frederick Douglass Awards Dinner is a celebration of diversity, equal opportunity and the rights of humanity.
