The Membership Committee (MC) acts as a liaison to individuals looking to join the NYULYP and is the gatekeeper for the retention of current members. The MC helps to excite, build and maintain the membership of the Young Professionals that are committed to improving the communities where we live and work. Committee’s primary activities include:
- Welcoming new members through an informative orientation that explains the history, goals and future plans of the NYUL and the NYULYP;
- Organizing personal and professional development workshops with acclaimed guest speakers focusing on an array of topics from discovering your leadership potential to establishing healthy eating habits for weight loss;
- Overseeing the administrative tasks associated with membership processing including benefit development, communicating expirations, and serving as the point of contact during general body meeting.
The NYULYP seeks new or relocating members that are interested in reaching their full potential as influential community leaders while serving the constituents of the NYUL and the community at large.
This fiscal year, the committee plans to strengthen the personal and professional skills of its membership by offering a series of workshops focused on surviving change. “Lets Talk About It,” is a three-part series that will help participants learn how to control their stress, build healthy relationships at home and work, and understand the needs of aging parents.
In addition, the MC is working towards expanding benefit options for its members by building strategic partnerships with local businesses and corporate sponsors. Through these advancements, our ultimate goal is to increase the membership by 25% within the next year.
