The New York Urban League has a rich history and long legacy of service to New Yorkers. The NYUL was founded in 1919 by an inter-racial group of concerned New Yorkers in response to the difficulties faced by African Americans migrating from the agricultural and rural south to the industrial, urban centers of the north. Since that time, the League has actualized its mission through strategic partnerships with other community-based organizations, citywide and neighborhood-based service providers, the public sector, and the city's business and corporate communities
The League’s Golf Classic is now in its 7th year. The event is held in conjunction with the League’s Whitney M. Young Scholarship Football Classic. The Golf classic is a critical fundraising event where the proceeds support the New York Urban League’s mission to continue to serve more than 50,000 New Yorkers through advocacy, education outreach, scholarships, social services, and technical assistance.
