The Community Service Committee (CSC) of the NYULYP dedicates itself to coordinating volunteers for monthly one-time service activities throughout the five boroughs of New York City. CSC activities consist of initiatives sponsored by the NYULYP; collaborations with other organizations that service our jurisdiction; and NYUL Signature Events where the committee is responsible for providing support.
The Committee’s mission is to manage and encourage volunteerism among its members. This is done by serving as a relay network within our YP network; identifying and mobilizing manpower, brainpower and willpower to service YP projects; and by inspiring others to greatness by serving the community.
Last year’s events included:
September 2006 – Back Pack Project: CSC members coordinated the donation of backpacks provided by the N of the MTV Networks Family that were equipped with school supplies contributed by YP members and the general public. The back packs were given to children who are participants in the Family Redirection Program in Harlem sponsored by the NYUL affiliate.- October 2006 – NY Cares Day: CSC members partnered with NY Cares to recruit volunteers to help beautify a NYC public school in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn.
This year, the CSC is looking to establish borough reps to help ensure that the YP is being represented throughout NYC and to allow members the opportunity to service their own communities.
Do you have a passion for serving others? Are you interested in volunteering? The CSC is always looking for dedicated individuals who are willing to participate in volunteer opportunities, recruit members for volunteer opportunities, and contribute ideas for new opportunities that compliment the mission and goals of the Young Professionals. If you are interested in becoming a member of the committee, please contact Nicole Clare, Community Service Chair at ypcommunity@nyul.org.
